On Tuesday, June 2nd, one of our caregivers Juanita Medina, an excellent employee who puts the clients at ease as soon as she meets them, contacted the Max Care Home Health Care  agency asking if there was a way to assist her client Mary Hinton-Mcghee with a lift chair. Ms. McGhee is a 90-year-old client who is on dialysis three times a week and is partially blind. Despite this, the client tries to do as much for herself as possible. However, it is exceedingly difficult for this client to mobilize. Dialysis makes the client weak and makes climbing stairs quite difficult.  Juanita contacted the agency and asked if there was a way this client could be assisted in purchasing this item, because it is quite expensive. I remembered seeing a letter provided by IDoA (Illinois Department of Aging) stating that they had ESS (Emergency Senior Services) Grant funds for clients in amounts of up to $500. I immediately contacted the client’s case manager Michelle Singer at DuPage County to inquire about these funds and if the client could utilize them. Michelle immediately put me in touch with Kristen Ritchie, who oversees this funding. Long story short, the wonderful people of DuPage County have purchased this much-needed item for our client and in record time! DuPage was contacted on the 2nd, and the client received her approval on June 4th. It is wonderful to see that positivity and the goodwill of others still exists! I am extremely happy for this client and so proud of our caregiver for being an advocate and reaching out on behalf of the client!
